The most wonderful time in Dallas is almost here! That’s right, we’re just a mere 10 days away from smoked turkey legs, petting zoos, Fletcher’s Corn Dogs, car shows and just about anything Texans can throw into a fryer! Friday, September 26, will begin a 24-day stretch of The State Fair of Texas where people from all over the WORLD come to experience this Texas tradition and attempt to grab any type of deal that’ll make their fair funds last! While typically general admission is $17 and $13 for senior citizens and children shorter than 48 inches tall, check out these 10 ways to save more!
If you’re like me and plan to get fat off fair food multiple times while it’s here, it might be in your best interest to purchase a season pass. The pass (which includes a one-day-only guest ticket and a free ride on the Texas SkyWay and the Top o’ Texas Tower during special season pass holder events) is $39.95 but you save $5 by purchasing it any Kroger, bringing the price down to $34.95!
GIVE TO THE NORTH TEXAS FOOD BANK
Do a double-whammy by supporting a great nonprofit in Dallas while attending the fair. Bring in an unopened 20-ounce bottle of Dasani water or Coca-Cola product on opening day and get in for only $6. DID YOU HEAR ME?! SIX DOLLARS.
SAVE YOUR DR. PEPPER CANS
On any day of the week, you can get $8 off admission if you come after 5 pm! Additionally, every Tuesday you can get in for $5 no matter what time you come to Fair Park! If you don’t drink soda, now is the time to start!
Do you have a BIG family? Do you plan to go with your entire office of bible study group? If so, y’all could save a lot with group tickets. For groups of 20 or more, ticket prices drop to $13.50 for adults and $11 for seniors and kids.
MICKEY D COUPONS
I stay clear of the sin that is McDonald’s all year except when it’s fair season! Their tray liners and bags double as coupons for $3 off general admission on any day! Some even offer a $7 discount for kids when an adult pays the full ticket price.
THURSDAYS ARE COCA-COLA DAYS
You know they couldn’t let Dr. Pepper be the sole soda champion at the fair. Coca-Cola will give $6 off admission for any empty 20-ounce bottle every Thursday.
The good news is with this deal, you don’t even have to listen to the station! Just go to the KISS-FM website and print a $5 off general admission coupon EVERY FRIDAY.
On Tuesdays after you get in for FIVE DOLLARS because you brought a Dr. Pepper can, save even more on the Midway rides where every ride is only SIX COUPONS (this excludes thrill rides and Texas Star but it’s still really good deal!)! Saving $1-$3 on every ride means more money for corn dogs! 🙂
DEALS FOR GRANDMA & GRANDPA
Don’t hate on the senior citizens, they get $4 off their already $13 discount ticket every single day! It gets even better for them on every Thursday in October (Oct. 2, 9 and 16) where those smart cookies get in for FREE!
BUY BEFORE YOU GO
Not a huge savings but a savings still the same, if you buy your ticket in advance at BigTex.com, receive $2 off general admission and $1 off senior and kids’ tickets. Here’s the kicker though…there’s an $8.95 charge for shipping as they don’t allow you to print or reserve them at will call. So unless you’re buying five or more tickets in advance at a time, I wouldn’t recommend utilizing this deal.
