As we reflect on that tragic morning of September 11, 2001, let us also be reminded of all the great things that make our country so great…like GOOD FOOD! Smile as you think about the time you and dad went to your first baseball game and how sick you got from eating too many chili cheese hot dogs; close your eyes and reminisce on how you loved coming home from college to the smell of mama’s homemade apple pie; be thankful for nostalgic memories like your first camping trip and what the first bite of a gooey s’more tasted like. As for me, here are my top 15 favorite all-American food staples that make me thankful to live in the U-S-of-A!
Macaroni and Cheese
Although its origins are Italian, since 1937 when Kraft put it in a blue box and inside the stomachs of kids everywhere, Mac ‘n Cheese has been an American staple! Hot pasta tossed in melted cheese is the comfort food from the GODS!
Less like a pizza and more like a pie, the Chicago deep dish pizza is are true American icon! Making the crust three inches tall and putting the tomato sauce on top changed the pizza game in a big way!
All I need in this life of sin are spicy buffalo wings dipped in a cool ranch dressing! YUM!
Sonic Drive-In or out of an Ore-Ida bag, I never pass up a piping-hot tot!
I don’t always go camping but when I do, I’m sitting fireside with a graham cracker, a roasted marshmallow and a Hershey’s chocolate bar, constructing the perfect campfire treat!
Some are Team Pat’s, others are Team Geno’s. I don’t care who makes it, just get me one!
